  1. Impressive list; Never knew it was that long. I’ve been making up superheroes since grade school, and I have my group, along with villains and a nice metropolis in which they fight crime. But this is a most impressive list. I never knew that there were so many. I will have to do a lot of reading of your list! Excellent work!

  2. Thank you so much. I have been looking for a list like this for a long time. This will help with tracking down collectibles.

  3. We have a good variety of superheroes. We just need to give them a platform for a regular showcase. To do that, we need to control our own media source.

  4. I didn’t see Mr. Terrific or Black Lightning anywhere on that list, I may have missed them but in case I didn’t you should definitely add them!

  5. Wow!!!!!! This is MAGNIFICENT!!! I thought I NEEEEVVVVVEEEERRRRR would see a roster of BLACK Superheroes of this magnitude. I just wish that you guys would be BLESSED & FAVORED by GOD ALMIGHTY to SOMEHOW get the attention of major Hollywood execs to script and produce full-length, top-level, mainstream major motion pictures/television series about these brothers and sisters. Move over MARVEL!! Move over DC Comics!! Move over Captain America!!! Move over Incredible Hulk!!! Move over Spiderman!! Move over Thor!!! Mover over Superman!! Move over Batman!!! Move over Wonder Woman!!!! Here comes the real Saviors of the Universe!!! As a young black man, this would be a dream come true to see these heroes fleshed out on the big and small screens. Let’s tell their stories and make little white kids root for “our” heroes instead of the other way around for a change. Get my drift? Just make sure that if/when you make live-action movies, that you all get the right actors and actresses to portray them masterfully on the screen. Another word of advice: ASSUME TOTAL CONTROL OVER YOUR PRODUCT. IT IS YOUR CREATION – NOT “THEIRS”!!! But first you have to masterfully build up mainstream public interest with cartoons, comic books, magazines, video games, etc. GET THEM KNOWN TO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC. MAKE THEM POPULAR TO ASIANS, AFRICANS, MEXICANS, ALL OVER EUROPE AND ELSEWHERE. You guys have a lot of crucial work ahead of you. Make me happy!!! Get it on!!!!

  6. What kind of shit is thst tyo have a BLACK WOMAN named Cap-Confederacy?????? And to put her in a a fucking confed suit is almost saying black pepole stood for that shit. They might have made niggas fight, that ain’t shit to be proud of. Whoever made it should be shot n the head!!!!!!!

  7. I am blown away by this list. I knew of some but never imagined there enough were so many. I have some reading to do. I hope to one day have my own superhero on this list. Thank you so much you have enough made my year

  8. I’m also blown away by this list. I knew of some but never imagined there enough were so many. Where can I find them? Are they in comic books?

  9. This is a great list. Thanks. I only miss the Magus from Jim Starlin’s Warlock. And somewhere in a box I have the first 3 editions of Marvel’s Black Goliath.

  10. Just stumbled across your site and glad that l did. This was an amazing list and very emotional for me to see that we had such a huge catalog of heroes & villains that look like us. l just wish we had our own media sources to push these characters and make them major success as they should be. l hope some day to accomplish that goal with my own work of art. Thank You very much for this. Will definitely make your site one of my stops when l’m online.

  11. This list of black superheroes is awesome. Thank you thank you THANK YOU for posting! I was talking to my husband, trying to figure out who the black superheroes were. I only knew of a handful. My knowledge about them was woefully small. This is great information. I showed my husband this list as well. Keep up the good work!

  12. Black Panther and Misty Knight are my favorite mainstream black superheroes and Midnight Tiger is easily my favorite Indy black Superhero! 🙂

  13. Thanks for putting together this site!!! I love how easy it is to navigate through it!!! Keep up the great work!!!!

  14. Very impressive list!!! I’m envious! Is it possible to send this as a spreadsheet?

If not, I can click on each one to get first appearances…I aim to get all of them!

  15. I’m trying to find a comic can’t remember the team name but dreadlock and brickhouse was two members

  16. Thank you for making our lives just a little brighter because Black Superheroes Matter!

  17. You have Doctor Mist from The Global Guardians (DC Comics) but I can’t find his teammate Impala anywhere.

He debuted in Super Friends #7 where he teamed up to stop an alien bomber with The Flash of Earth 1 & later helped out during the Crisis On Infinite Earths (In issue #12).

Impala has made some post Crisis appearances as well.

  18. I’ve loved this site for years, but this section seems to never be updated with the new heroes you show on the main page

  19. I was wondering if you were going to update this page with all the heroes you’ve covered over the last few years
