NY Cosplayer Network, Inc.

Some of our longtime fans decided to share some pictures that combines both beautiful black women

who not only cosplay, but use their cosplay to make a difference!

These gals tutor kids in math/ science/ reading and

they also volunteer cosplaying at various community events and in shelters.
They believe since many poor kids cannot come to the cons and see cosplayers,

they would bring the cosplayers to them!

Here’s some love for the ladies of NY Cosplayer Network, Inc.

For their positive message! Keep doing that thing girls! :)

Green Lantern New Guardians #3 Review

On the planet OA Kyle Rayner of sector 2814, Earth has accessed all the powers of the emotional spectrum and with it battles the Guardians of the Universe. As he gains the Upper Hand he loses control of the power and collapses. The Guardians try to expel him from the corps by removing his ring but cant.

Fatality and other ring bearers arrive in OA’s orbit and Fatality quickly takes charge of the team and leads them straight to Kyle Rayner. The Guardians overwhelm them but are saved by the timely arrival of Agent Orange who declares they all belong to him.

The Good

Cover- Kirkham, Batt & Ruffino turn in a lovely cover showcasing Ganthet and Kyle while all the other coloured lanterns lay at their feet defeated.

Mystery- We all know Kyle is one hundred times the Green Lantern Hal is but why is he a ring magnet? Why can he wield all the power of the emotional spectrum? Sure we know he was Ion at one point and was essentially God but with the recent reboot we have no clue if this is still applicable?! Tony Bedward you have opened the flood gates of never ending questions by putting Kyle in this situation, we salute you and wait on the inevitable explanation!

Art- Tyler Kirkham and Harvey Tolibao throw down in the art department and we get some pretty good art complimented by the dynamic colors of Nei Ruffino.

Action- Rejoice comic fans fights abound inside!

The Bad

Slow- Tony Bedward like Brian Michael Bendis is obviously writing for the Trade Paper Back market and thus the story won’t make much sense as a one off tale but only when all pieces are gathered.

The Ugly

Fatality and Kyle together again and heading down a rabbit hole of epic proportions 3/5

He appears to be a very skilled fighter skilled in the use of a variety of weapons and may well be the equal to Conan the Barbarian.

X-men #21 Review

Symkaria violates the no fly zone so Storm and colossus stop fighting War Machine and contact Psylocke whose job is to locate Domino. The president of Puternicstan reveals the reason she has brought sentinels to her nation, to help defend them from both Symkaria and Latveria by tricking the robots computer systems to recognize anyone they want as a mutant thus becoming a viable weapon. Domino wakes up in the morgue and breaks out. Psylocke, warpath and Jubilee are found by the soldiers and call for backup after discovering a whole warehouse of Sentinels. Storm and War Machine get attacked by a sentinel who starts crushing War Machine. The Puternicstan president watches pleased as her plan works perfectly.

The Good

Cover- Cool image of Psylocke, Warpath and Jubilee

Art- Strong work from Will Conrad coupled with the inks and colors make this a very attractive comic.

Ethics- This story has allot of underlying depth. Ethics questions what you out to do and here the president of Puternicstan is trying to protect her people after her nation has continually been ravaged and plundered. In the interest of her people what she’s doing is right. Conversely the x-men have a right to destroy these machines and investigate anyone who would purchase them since their lives have are in constant danger and the looming threat of extinction is now more real than ever. Both have good points and reasons for their decisions based on background and perspective. Both are within the realms of what aught to be done which  is the conundrum

Action- No explosion but there was enough action to keep the average comic fan happy.

The Bad

When since does Domino’s heart slow enough to be confused for dead? Then she hops of the table like Wolverine? When since does she have a healing factor? I get that this was supposed to add tension but it really just prevented me from being pulled into the tale

Background- Jubilee and Warpath are just here to add numbers they serve no purpose in driving the story forward nor are they given any worthwhile line.

Freight Train-Eric Moran

Created by: Dan Didio

1st appearance: Outsiders #30,  2010

Nationality: Canadian

Legal Status: Unknown

Weight: 250 lbs-variable    Height: 6’1-Variable

Eyes: Brown                              Hair: Black

Skills and Abilities: Trained hand to hand combatant.

Powers: Eric has the ability to absorb kinetic energy to increase his strength, speed, endurance and resistance to injury to superhuman levels. His size also increases as he absorbs more energy. His absorption is seemingly limitless allowing him to face a foe equally who once defeated the entire Justice League.

Eric was an ordinary Canadian man living his life in the recession who was abducted and fed on by aliens. While many others died from the experience, Eric however found himself altered and developed super human abilities. He used his powers for personal gain to make money until he became the bodyguard of Simon Stagg a drug dealer. His boss had him clash with the Outsiders including Black Lightning. Stagg betrayed him and so Eric joined with the Outsiders to defeat him. After this he joined the team under Batman’s leadership. His most incredible feat was fight off the Shaggy Man, a foe which the entire Justice league could not handle.

Black Panther: Most Dangerous Man Alive #525 Review

T’challa is made aware of a target on members of the wakandan National Bank’s board of directors. There is one survivor who he decides he must protect at all costs. The Hand now under Kingpin’s control plan to put there master’s plan into full effect. At the Hospital Lady Bullseye and the hand clash with T’challa as he tries to save the woman. Just as things are looking up Typhoid Mary attacks and the woman is captured by Lady Bullseye. Surrounded by flame T’challa is cornered and outnumbered.

The Good

Cover- Nice washed out lookin cover gives the impression of an old newspaper,  Kingpin in the background while his two lovely assassins in the foreground.

Art- Good bye Francavilla! Hello

Story- What does Kingpin have planned? Why is he killing the Wakandan Bank’s board of directors? Can T’challa beat both Typhoid Mary and Lady Bullseye? Scratch that last question :) but there is enough mystery and I’m hopeful that David Liss’s swan song for the Black Panther can keep up this tone and be a memorable clash of two of comics’ legendary characters.

Action- Thankfully this issue has a fair bit of action not stifled by stiff visuals; as a result we get a nice chase scene which works!

Gritty- Lady Bullseye had the perfect name she’s just as cold and heartless as Bullseye himself. The bodies all over the hospital added to the dark and sombre tone of this Noir-esque book which has been lacking.

The Bad

Track Record- I want to be excited but can’t get there because David Liss’s execution always falls below expectations.

Justice League (2012) #3 Review

In Washington DC Wonder Woman is on the lookout for a battle while her handlers try to track her down. While she eats Ice cream with a little girl a boom tube opens up and she springs into action. In star labs Victor Stone’s father decides to use an experimental technology to save his son. Meanwhile Flash, Batman, Superman and Green Lantern battle the forces of Darkseid. Wonder woman joins the fray as Victor Stone is transformed into Cyborg. Immediately Cyborg senses Darkseid whose castle has appeared on earth and Darkseid senses him as well. Our heroes gather at the base of the monument and Aquaman joins the fray.

The Good

Cover- The two covers by Jim Lee are gorgeous.

Art- Jim Lee still turns in some of the best art in the business, simply gorgeous!

Story- The first threat and formation of the Justice League is complete with all the members making an appearance.

Action- This issue ramps up the action big time with the fight carrying the whole comic from start to finish. I like the dialogue and the new spin on these classic characters.

The Bad

Cover- The Alternate cover is hideous!
