Born in south Africa she fell in love with king T’chaka after his first wife N’yami died in child birth with T’Challa. She grew T’Challa and Hunter as her own until she gave birth to her daughter Shuri. Ramonda was also viewed as an outsider among Wakanda‘s who are by nature very Xenophibic. She was captured at some unspecified time in the past and raped by Anton Pretorius. When she returned to Wakanda she witnessed her husbands death at the hands of Klaw and eventually having her son T’Challa ascend the throne.  She is very good friends with her brother in law S’yan and adores her daughter in law storm while lambasting T’Challa‘s previous engagement to American singer Monica Lyne.

Ramonda serves on the Wakandan high council and disagreed with her daughter Shuri ‘s selection as replacement Black Panther when T’Challa was injured. She was also the one along with Storm who was instrumental in contacting Zawavari for help in rescuing T’challa from the brink of death. During Doomwar she was held prisoner and witnessed the death of her brother in law S’yan. After Dooms defeat she remain in wakanda to help rebuild the nation.
