Just days after the announcement of Hale Berry returning to the world of X-men movie land as Storm/Ororo Monroe, Brian Singer had announced that Omar Sy would also be joining the cast. Now after this Bleeding Cool ran a story about the possibility that Omar Sy was playing our black mutant anti-hero. The question now would be if Omar Sy is playing Bishop…..what do you think of that casting? secondly should we even bother to get our hopes up about another black hero in the X-men films when Halle Berry’s Storm is what passes for the best?
X-men First Class gave us Zoe Kravitz as Ange Salvadore but she became a villain with limited screen time. Darwin/Armondo Munoz was introduced played by Ede Gathegi but despite having a power which should have made him virtually unkillable he was killed early on in said film in a silly way. Also Synch/Everett Thomas was played by singer Tony Tone but showed up nowhere in the film or on the DVD extras.
What other black mutant could Omar Sy be paying? Prodigy/David Allayne? Windshear? Anarchist/Tike Alicare? Jesse Bedlam? Shola Inkosi? Tag/Brian Cruz? or perhaps Christopher Muse? He may well be none of the above and simply be a new creation for the movie or even be a mere human. One thing is for sure our eyes and ears are peeled on what role our black heroes will play in the upcoming X-men; Days of Future Past set to hit theaters in 2014!
