Biography

Psiphon and his terrorist group attacked an office building in Manhattan and proceeded to kill 70 people without blinking. Vengeance (Michael Badilino) was able to take out some of Psiphon’s men and made his way to confront Psiphon, asking him why he had committed the heinous act. Psiphon responded while killing his 71st victim that he did it to get Vengeance’s attention. Vengeance attacks Psiphon with hellfire and knocks him down, but this only made him stronger/ Psiphon uses his cable-like hair to toss Vengeance around, and then uses a filing cabinet to crush Vengeance. He didn’t kill him but wanted to keep him because the negative emotions given off Vengeance acted as a power source him. Psiphon chained Vengeance up and carried him with his cables to the Statue of Liberty, where they took hostages and hung them from the crown. (Marvel Comics Presents Vol 1 #147)
Psiphon demanded 50 million dollars for the hostages. He was still holding onto Vengeance and feeding from his energy which he used to destroy a helicopter that flew to close. This action angered Vengeance and he was able to escape. Vengeance blasted Psiphon and some of his men; killing the men and the knocking Psiphon to the ground. This only made Psiphon stronger as before, and ensured that Vengeance would not be able to defeat Psiphon. Psiphon began to boast that as long as Vengeance was alive he would feed from him and be invincible. Vengeance reverted back to his human form, which in turn made Psiphon revert to his weak human form as well and kicked him off the Statue of Liberty. (Marvel Comics Presents Vol 1 #148)
Psiphon survives the fall from the Statue of Liberty and is carried away by men working for Sam Buchanan. Buchanan helps Psiphon heal from his injuries and arms him with a suit of yellow armor equipped with weapons and sends him to attack Badilino and provoke him into changing into Vengeance. Psiphon kills some innocent bystanders in front of Badilino, who then changes into Vengeance. Psiphon immediately begins to start feeding from Vengeance and becomes strong again, breaking out of the armor and flying off towards Washington, D.C.
Psiphon begins his attack at the Pentagon City Mall, taking on Vengeance, and using the hatred between Buchanan and Vengeance to fuel his strength into back to peak levels. Psiphon was attacked by Vengeance, Sam Buchanan, and Police Lt. Rebecca Taylor and were able to hurt him when Taylor shot off some of Psiphon’s cables. Vengeance with the aid of Buchanan was able to gain strength from the weapon carried by Buchanan and was able to subdue Psiphon and ripped the remaining cables from his head, leaving him once again frail and powerless. Vengeance left him behind for the authorities to pick up. (Marvel Comics Presents Vol 1 #164-166)
