Realizing it best to be “dumb down” her skills to pass as Normal she did this for years. By age 16 she had self taught her self to the doctorate level genetics, Cybernetics and Physics. By 18 she launched a successful criminal career thanks to the “Yellow claw” a criminal group interested in her experiments. It was here that she clashed with Captain America and the falcon with her science made werewolves. When the Yellow claw abandoned her she faked her death and escaped. She would surface months later to try and take over Sheild though she was defeated and jailed.

After her escape she created “cybernauts” machines which looked human to help her take over the local crime of Harlem. In this bid she even caused the Maggia to flee though Iron Fist, Misty Knight and Luke Cage stopped her plans. She next duped the hulk into doing her bidding by when Misty and co. revealed to hulk what had happened he handed her over to the police. On parole she clashed again with Cage and co. and would up defeated. Next she became second in command to Superia who trained herself and other female villains on her island Femizonia in a bid to create a world in which women ruled with men as their slaves. Captain America and friends defeated the group and she fled.

Manipulated by Druid she made all of Massachusetts into werewolves as he attempted to gain great power. Captain America freed her and she cured all the inhabitants as thanks. As she fled back to Superia however her leader was killed by the red skull.

Eric Killmonger then hired her to kill the Black Panther. She and her allies were defeated however. Vowing revenge she resurrected the Black Dragon Ciantang to kill the Panther but she was captured by the creature instead. Freed by the Panther she became his personal prisoner aboard his ship. It was here she discovered an older alternate world Black Panther with whom she bonded. She was granted amnesty and for the first time found a home. She accompanied this panther on a few adventures but when he was killed by Man-Ape she was distraught. In the chaos that followed she left Wakanda she has since returned to a life of Villainy.

She shows up in Shadowland trying to recruit the new Powerman to her cause aided by Cornel Cottonmouth. In this story she reveals that allot of the tech used by old Luke Cage villains were created by her. When she failed to recruit him she fled.

Yrra Cynril was born into the ruling house on the planet Xanshi making her royalty. The planet had been ruled by her family for centuries. Xanshi is described as being “A planet of many Races” and a “Paradise” [Green Lantern v3. #84]. When she was little more than a girl her father sent her off world to be schooled on the planet Okaara where some of the best warriors in the universe honed her into a seasoned warrior. She was the first of her people to do so. At her coronation before she left the planet Racavood orchid’s were present and her boyfriend Dalia [Green Lantern v3. #132]. On Okaara he also realized she had a talent for warfare [Green Lantern v3. #84]. Fellow students included Starfire who would become a member of the Teen Titans and her sister Darkfire. While she trained however tragedy struck. Green Lantern of earth John Stewart made a fatal mistake which resulted in the destruction of her planet.

“The Origin of Fatality” from Green Lantern V3. #84, 1997 story by Ron Marz with Art by Darryl Banks

Devastated she left Okaara against the wishes of her teachers to find out who or what had destroyed her planet. While she didn’t learn the identity of the being responsible she learned it had been a green lantern [Green Lantern v3. #84]. After this she channeled her anger and despair into action. She dedicated her life to kill all who would wear or formerly wore a Green Lantern Ring. Yrra branded herself “Fatality” since Yrra Cynrill had died with her planet [Green Lantern v3. #84]. She then cut a swatch of death through the ranks of the green lantern corps which didn’t end even after Hal Jordan left them powerless.

When she arrived on earth after tracking the energy signature of the ‘last green lantern’ she found Kyle Rayner. In disguise she tried to seduce Kyle and kill him once alone. When he refused she attacked him but both were evenly matched as he had her beat in sheer firepower while she had more skill. She escaped and made her way to his power battery since without it he would be easier to kill [Green Lantern v3. #83]. With Lantern in hand she called out Kyle and defeated him in combat. Before she killed him he asked her why and she recounted her origins to him [Green Lantern v3. #84]. With John Stewart‘s intervention Kyle’s life was saved and she fled into space on her ship. Both ships after doing battle crash landed on a feral planet [Green lantern v3. #84]. When Kyle found her they fought again. He tried to reason with her and revealed that John Stewart was the one responsible for the destruction of her planet because of arrogance the same arrogance she was displaying in assuming that the death of the corps would bring her peace or bring her people back. When she refused to listen they were attacked by a monster. Refusing to cooperate with Kyle instead wishing them both dead she alone was consumed and she lost an arm [Green Lantern v3. #85].

Fatality was not dead however and she survived being eaten alive and replaced her arm with a bionic one [Green Lantern v3. #112]. She returned to earth this time to Kill John Stewart but found resistance from Jade as well as Kyle. During this battle she steals Jade’s ring and is able to use it in battle. John Stewart then engages her alone and seemingly kills her in the depths of the ocean while using up all his powers [Green Lantern v3. #111 and Green Lanternv3.  #112].

Self loathing and Imprisonment

Fatality returns yet again this time in possession of a Qwardian Yellow ring [Green Lantern v3. #131]. Despite her new-found power memories of her planet had caused her to be mad to the point of being ineffective. She manages to find and beat up John Stewart and his girlfriend but can’t finish the job [Green Lantern v3. #132].

Green Lantern v3. #132, 2001; Story by Judd Winick with art by Darryl Bank

When defeated she begs Kyle to kill her revealing her self hate and death wish. When she tries to remove the yellow ring however it detonates destroying her other arm. While she was still in shock Kyle took her to Star labs where she got another prosthetic arm [Green Lantern v3. #132].

After being imprisoned she is visited frequently by John Stewart. On one such occasion she revealed to John that their was no physical problem with his body preventing him from walking. The entire exchange was very sexually charged and Fatality even took off all her clothes and flaunted her body before him [Green Lantern v3. #141]. When John returned to her he thanked her for aiding him in learning to walk again. She suggested she helped him so when she escaped from prison they could have a real battle [Green Lantern v3. #156]. Fatality is later released into the custody of a mysterious man who sets her free [Green Lantern v3. #176-177]. She tracks down Kyle Rayner and is defeated once more [Green Lantern v3. #178].

Finding Love

Years later she was recruited by Sinestro into the Sinestro corp and wielded a new yellow ring and joined the Injustice League. During the Sinestro Corps War she was captured by the Zamarons [Green Lantern Corps v2. #30]. Fatality is later converted to a Star Saphire. Free of her self loathing, hate and anger she sought out John Stewart Immediately and they shared a kiss in the debris of Xanshi. Yrra also tells John that she has forgiven him for destroying her planet [Green Lantern v4. 42]. She helps defend Zamaron when it is attacked by the Sinestro Corps. Fatality then joins the new guardians to battle the arch angel Invictus along side Kyle Rayner [Green Lantern New Guardians #1-12]. Leaving the team she aided John Stewart against the First Lantern and was instrumental in helping John reassemble Mogo [Green Lantern New Guardians 14-15]. By sacrificing her sister she gained even greater magical abilities and can even resurrect herself from the dead. She is one of the most powerful Voodoo practitioners on earth.

Born and raised on the Caribbean island of Haiti, she showed an affinity for magic from an early stage. Her family itself had a strong magical lineage, her sister also wielded magic. She was a natural with Voodoo and reveled in the dark arts. When Kraven the hunter came to her land after he had given up the hunt, it was she who’s lust and thrill of the hunt reignited his fire. As his lover she tried to get him to resume his hunt of Spider-man though he had come to realize his obsessive behavior and tried not to. When Kraven transported wild animals to New York she freed them and framed Spider-man. Kraven and Spidey clashed and she found herself behind bars though they escaped. Thinking he must humble Spider-man to be worthy of Calypso’s love he hunted his foe again. On the cusp of victory however he realized she had drugged his foe and let him live since there was no honor in his defeat. They were again arrested by the authorities.

After Kraven’s suicide she fell deeper into the dark magics and truly became evil. Returning to Haiti she increased her powers by sacrificing her sister, the sorceress Mambo and added her considerable powers to her own [Peter Parker Spider Man v1. #4]. To avenge her fallen love she used her powers to enthrall the Lizard and had him attack Spider-man. The trio barely escaped when Kraven’s mansion blew up [Peter Parker Spider Man v1. #1-4]. Next she turned her sights to Daredevil in hell’s Kitchen as she tried to resurrect her lover. She poisoned Daredevil and made him a “nameless one” and bound his will to her own. With an army of undead she tried to gather enough people from her own land to sacrifice in exchange for Kraven’s soul. When Daredevil regained control however and freed all the zombies from her control and set them against her she managed to escape in a coffin as the building collapsed around her. Next she killed another voodoo practitioner and resurrected Simon Garth as her slave in a test for resurrecting Kraven. When this was complete she broke into the Vault to free the Lizard. He was now resistant to her mind control and killed her. She resurrected herself by placing her soul inside a talisman which the Zombie Garth carried with him. She schemed with Kraven’s son Alyosha Kravinoff to kill spider-man but when the combatants called a truce Kravinoff fled with her and killed her once they arrived at his mansion. Again she resurrected herself and clashed with Daredevil and Spider-man again aided by Garth. How Kraven’s return has affected her is unknown.

Raquel Irvin was born on Paris Island the poorest ghetto in Dakota. Growing up she was best friends with Darnice all the way through to High School. Raquel had aspirations of being a writer, like her favorite author ‘Toni Morrison’. However what she lacked was the motivation to write. She briefly dated a boy named Noble with whom she tried to rob a wealthy upstate mansion. Here she would find her motivation in the form of Augustus Freeman, lawyer by profession, alien superhuman in disguise. Augustus gave the thieves a speech about what they had down. Moved by this Raquel went home drew up costumes, picked out names, tracked down Augustus at work and managed to move him from passive superhuman to active. Icon created the costumes and presented her with the ‘Inertia Winder’. They made their first public appearance when the mayor was captured by Payback (Icon #1, 1993).

Rocket would then prove instrumental in defeating Payback and she learned she was pregnant (Icon #2-3, 1993). They later battled the Blood Syndicate. While battling the syndicate, Wise Son expressed interest in her. They also learned the secret of the “Big Bang”. Raquel’s feistiness’ also caused Wise Son to announce a truce between then and the duo. This was also where she got her domino face mask (Icon #5-6, 1993). When dealing with her pregnancy she considered an abortion and even attended the clinic but changed her mind, instead deciding to own up to her ‘mistake’ and not take the easy route out (Icon #7, 2013). After Noble accidentally informed her mother she was pregnant she had to let her family know she was not having an abortion (Icon #10).

When Lysistrata Jones took control of BuckWild and sent him after the duo she was the one to stop the villainess when even Icon fell under the power of her ‘P-Whip’ (Icon #13). While she was pregnant she had her belt stolen which lead to a thief becoming a super powered villain luckily Icon managed to fix things (Icon #14). During ‘Worlds Collide’ she bonded with Superboy (Icon #15). When Icon left earth she wrote down his entire life in hopes of having it published one day (Icon #18). She battled Bulletproof while she was about seven months pregnant and realized that she had to find a temporary replacement. Best friend Darnice would then take over as Rocket (Icon #19-20).

She later gave birth to her son “Amistad” named after the famous slave ship and helped Flashback of the blood syndicate to quit her cocaine addiction.
