Biography
Abducted at the age of fourteen by a pedophile instead of being angry or scared she forgave him for his cruel act and was chosen by Adara the living embodiment of hope to be its vessel. Reborn as Adara she revealed herself to her family and friends as alive and went about applying hope to the orange lantern Larfleez and green lantern Hal Jordan. The resulting battle with Krona left her stripped of her powers as he gathering all the embodiments of the emotional spectrum to initiate the war of the green lanterns.
I love all the new black HEROS coming into comics but what type of massage are we allowing comic companies to send to young black youth? We allow writers to get away with all these terrible biographies of our black HEROS and we sit back and say nothing! For example, storm-orphaned thief, Adara-child rape victim,Luke Cage-convict from the hood.and so on and so forth.Just check the black hero origins for yourself it’s ridiculous! Steel hard skin,What happened to just saying bullet proof or invulnerable?they just started saying how strong power man actually is for gods sake! But wait! There’s more,lets take his name from him,don’t give him a cool new costume like everyone else and put a obviously ghetto brother with a white wife and make him submissive to her!?! Get real. That’s some bull shit.
I almost agree with the first part of what Erik Baker said, but by the end of it I didn’t think it was worth listening to.
I do not approve of the “kidnapped by a pedo” angle, but the point of all heroes is that they overcome tragedy. Having parents die and leaving a child an orphan, well, that just puts Storm in the company of Batman, Spider-Man, Superman, Wolverine, Iron Fist, and how many other heroes? True, Spidey had aunt May to fall back on, and Bruce was richer than some countries,as was Night Thrasher from the original New Warriors. But like Storm, Logan had to forge his own way as a parentless child, and make a living, but he did it by working. Storm had different circumstances.
As for Luke Cage, an old favourite of mine, the way he became a convict was because he was framed. He was a stand up man who had false evidence planted on him to get him out of the way by a jealous rival. He was never a criminal, just a man doing his best in terrible circumstances. He was always strong and tough, but after the accident that gave him the powers, they kept expanding over time. He is far stronger and tougher now than he was back in his blouse and tiara days.He’s also been put in charge of the government run Thunderbolts program, assigned to rebuild it after Norman Osborn corrupted it, and has been the leader of two Avengers teams. If anyone has a problem with him giving up the Power Man name, keep one thing in mind: The name is silly. No Character with a name like that who wasn’t created in the 40s and 50s ever last more than 50 issues. Luke Cage, or simply Cage, as many call him was an exception, and that stands as a testament to the strength of his appeal as a character.
As for who he married, and how she treats him, and her skin color:
1) Love is love, no mater who you find it with, hold on to it.
2)Ever been married? What sacrifices do you make to keep a loved one happy? Does it include letting the most important person in your life play at being in charge of you?
3)Really? I thought the whole point of this site was to celebrate diversity, to see an often ignored or marginalized part of the community get a chance to be in the spotlight, and see examples of people being treated as equals no matter what culture or ethnicity they are. If we are all equals, why is the color of a man’s wife skin a problem?
