Marvel Delays New Black Panther Series

According to Newsarama, Marvel told retailers Black Panther #1, originally scheduled to release on Aug. 4, is being delayed until Nov. 3. This pushes the release of the second issue to Dec. 1. The publisher did not provide a reason for the delay in the series relaunch.

  • ON SALE AUGUST 2021
  • In this new ongoing series, secrets from T’Challa’s past have come back to haunt him. Fresh from returning from his adventures in space, Black Panther receives an unexpected and urgent message from a Wakandan secret agent. T’Challa must race the clock not only to save his agent, but also to keep his true agenda under wraps. Because if the truth comes out, it could cost T’Challa everything…

Writer Ta-Nehisi Coates ended his multi-year run on Black Panther with the title’s 25th issue in May. While Black Panther marks Ridley’s first ongoing Marvel series — he also collaborated with Jorge Fornés for Wolverine: Black, White & Blood #3 — the filmmaker is also one of the writers for DC’s Batman family of titles, and also penned The Other History of the DC Universe. The comic looked back at various events from DC’s history involving its characters of color such as Black Lightning, Katana, Bumblebee and Mal Duncan.
