Earth 2: Society #2 Review

earth2society#2 1

The heroes of this new Earth battle over a mysterious device that could remake their old world or destroy the new one!

What I thought

The art is not the most detailed and since Earth 2 has always had killer art this just seems out of place. We learn that Dick Grayson/Batman is crippled but is using an exo-skeleton designed by Mister Terrific to stay mobile and fight crime. I thought this was an interesting nod to Batman back in the 90’s when Bane broke him across his knee. Terry continues to come across more as an anti-hero than an outright villain. He thinks what he’s doing is for the betterment of mankind much like Dr. Doom and he has no scruples about achieving it in any way possible.  We also learn that he was not the cause of the Crash landing of the ships on their new planet. There is another unseen mover on the board we just don’t know who just yet. It’s great seeing Mr. Terrific up and about. Not feeling “Red Arrow” and things just seem disjointed. Maybe this is one of those series which is better as a TPB (Trade paperback) as opposed to single issues. We still have no idea how this red sun is affecting our boy Val-Zod and Power Girl. We want to see that ASAP. Also where the hell is Hawkgirl? The Narrative is split between the past and present. The past is moving at a more brisk pace while the present is just plodding along.

Overall this issue asked more questions than it answered and is still just an appetizer instead of a full course meal. So we give this issue 2.5/5 stars
