Uncanny Avengers (2015) #3 Review

Uncannyavengers#3 It was a perfect day on Counter Earth, then Sabretooth showed up.

The Avengers are divided; the hunt for their missing friends unearths a terrible secret.

What evil lurks on the moon of Counter Earth?

The Good

Action– This issue had a few scraps, I especially enjoyed the Luminous, Scarlet Witch, Quicksilver tussle though it lacked the tension I’m sure it was meant to inspire.

Art/Cover– Daniel Acuna provides us with a distinctive and slick cover illustrating the Scarlet Witch vs. Luminous and it is eye catching on the stands. The interior art is equally as gorgeous also from Acuna.

Story– Vision and his cybernetic soul mate Eve are found by the High Evolutionary as their children gestate. Elsewhere Rogue grows impatient with her captor. The Low Evolutionary rallies his troops and prepares for an assault by the High Evolutionary. Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch gets beaten and captured by Luminous. Sabretooth now a thrall of the High Evolutionary aids his troops in attacking the Low Evolutionary’s city to cleanse them from the planet.

Villain– The High Evolutionary has seen a resurgence in recent years and is handled here best of all. He is treated with great respect, commanding awe, terror and power befitting a character of his status.

The Bad

Lineage– I still hate and I do mean HATE changing established continuity especially for a character like Scarlet Witch who has been convoluted and twisted to the point I barely care for her. That is truly sad when back in 1999 she was one of my top five superheroes.

Black Heroes– Neither All new Captain America or Doctor Voodoo make an appearance this issue and that is a bummer.

The Ugly

Good art and cover, decent story though not compelling as a result of what I still think is a needless retcon but it’s not the worse book on the stands. I give this one 3/5 stars.

stars- 3 good
