Earth 2’s Black Hawkgirl!

I was going to wait until I had the issue itself in hand but fans are already bombarding me with “mail” asking if Ive seen it. This news is sweet as is the accompanying art (seen below) it shows the new Hawkgirl set to debut in Julys issue of Earth 2. For those who don’t know Earth 2 is a new DC Comics series that follows an alternate timeline in which the Justice Society lives.

*Spoilers* The first issue was a great read in which Superman, Wonder Woman and Batman all died gloriously in battle. I’m excited to see where this series is going since that first issue lacked any black superheroes of any kind. DC promises that’s all about to change with issue #4 which will introduce the Earth 2’s first black superhero “Hawkgirl”

“I’m excited for readers to see this new Earth 2 version of Hawkgirl,” Robinson told CBR. “As the co-creator of the original Kendra Saunders, I’ve taken pains to keep the essence of her personality while adding a more two-fisted quality to her as well. I’m also enjoying developing another aspect to her, in that with the absence of Batman, she must also step up and become the great detective of Earth 2. I hope readers will enjoy watching her find her place in this new world as a part of this new team of heroes.”
