Biography

Robin first encountered Batman after he chased a thief to his home. Believing the Dark Knight intended to attack or arrest the kid, Robin drew his attention by pretending to be in peril on the fire escape. When Batman investigated, Robin attacked and knocked him from the building. Robin then fled through the building, offering his own money to the kid to ensure he could pay for the supplies he stole.

Notes

The “Burtonverse” Robin seen in Batman ’89 appears to be a composite of both Dick Grayson and Tim Drake, the first and third characters to take the Robin identity. His design is based on Marlon Wayans and his costume is based on a mechanic’s boiler suit: both references to his intended appearance in Batman Returns. Robin’s suit also shares a number of similarities with both Neal Adams’ redesign for Drake and Damian Wayne’s original costume.
