Powers: Jamal has all the abilities Anansi’s descendant’s posses including superhuman strength, agility, durability, speed, healing, precognitive dreams, and telepathy. He also has a unique ability to reach into a person’s mind and manipulate their memories, including but not limited to relieving their worst experiences repeatedly, an ability he doesn’t use often due to childhood trauma.
Weapons: His primary weapon is twin Kusarigama which his staff transforms into.
Skills and abilities: Thanks to his Arachne cult training he is skilled in the 21 Akarefena weapon schools as well as an unarmed fighting style that bears a striking resemblance to both Nigerian Dambe and Sengalees Laamb. Jamal is also a knowledgeable historian, specializing in Ancient African and Middle Eastern history and mythology . He is able to identify many objects from the ancient world that would be foreign to most.
He is a history and English teacher at Dowling High. He grew up in Brookville in Haven City, born to an African-American father and a Ghanaian mother. When he was seven his parents took him to Ghana to visit his mother’s family.
There his parents were killed by insurgents and he fled into an Akan ruin where he was bitten by a spider and passed out. He was rescued by two members of the Arachne cult and trained to be one of their warriors continuing an age-old fight against the forces of evil. Through rigorous training, conditioning, and ingestion of the mysterious “Arachne water” His genetic preternatural abilities were activated.
His purpose is to protect the world from mystical and arcane threats from beyond the veil of reality. It is proposed that his predecessors were created to stop the incursion of Iblis the Elder Incubus, from populating the world with Dream Spawn.
