It’s a date night for Spider-Man, and no one informed Taskmaster that three’s a crowd. Why does the greatest mercenary in history have Miles in his sights? Can Tiana Toomes, A.K.A. Starling, do anything to keep her new beaux alive?
What I thought
Story- Miles Morales/Spider-man and his current girlfriend Tiana Toomes/Starling are having a tender moment on a roof. They are attacked by Taskmaster. They are obviously no match for him however as he captures Starling and Miles is left defeated.
Art-Christopher Allen is on art duties. Christopher has a very realistic style with properly proportioned characters. The faces continue the trend that started way back in the original series, they are very expressive. Tiana rolling her eyes at Miles complaints about not responding to his texts was hilarious. I hear this issue from just about every student I have mentored in the past ten years. Another strength of the art is how Christopher Allen illustrates the flow of a fight. The movements illustrated from panel to panel flow, for the most part seamlessly.
Black Heroes- Black love is in the air and across social media, this relationship is already garnering fans by the thousands. It’s safe to say, Miles’s other pairings with Ghost Spider/Gwen Stacey and Katie Bishop pale in comparison. They are cute together in that ‘we are teenagers but have no idea what life is really all about’ kinda way. #blacklove
Action- This was an action-heavy issue with Miles and Tiana facing off with the omnipresent Taskmaster. I’m impressed by how long they lasted. This is Taskmaster. The art complimented the action really well and I was very satisfied.
Overall this was a pretty good issue with Miles and his girl getting into superhero hijinks. 3/5
