“As far as I know, today’s release of Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda is our final issue,” Zub wrote. “Empyre: Invasion of Wakanda is no longer set to be completed or released and there won’t be any more issues of the core series. Not ideal, but I’m proud of what we put together.”
I HATED THIS BOOK!
Perhaps hate is a strong word, it just did nothing for me in any way shape, or form. The lineup sucked, the adventures they went on were…uninspiring…
clearly this was a sentiment shared by many as based on sales figures this book should have been canceled a minute ago see the receipts below:
Black Panther and Agents of Wakanda | 2 | $3.99 | 10/16/19 | Marvel | 27,590 |
Black Panther and Agents of Wakanda | 3 | $3.99 | 11/13/19 | Marvel | 21,347 |
Black Panther and Agents of Wakanda | 4 | $3.99 | 12/11/19 | Marvel | 10,468 |
Black Panther and Agents of Wakanda | 5 | $3.99 | 01/01/20 | Marvel | 10,041 |
Black Panther and Agents of Wakanda | 6 | $3.99 | 02/12/20 | Marvel | 9,564 |
And in case you don’t know 15,000 sales is the cancellation death knell for Marvel and DC books.
Black Panther and the Agents of Wakanda spun out of events occurring in Jason Aaron’s Avengers run. There, Black Panther formed a team of counter-intelligence operatives to help support the Avengers. The team’s roster consisted of Okoye, general of the Dora Milaje; Janet van Dyne, the original Wasp; former S.H.I.E.L.D. Agent Roz Solomon; John Jameson, aka the Man-Wolf; Gorilla-Man; the highly intelligent Brood mutant named Broo; martial artist Fat Cobra; and Ka-Zar, lord of the Savage Land.
