What a roller coaster ride 2020 is turning out to be. A global Pandemic, Black lives matter, no E3, no conventions…oh lord. Unless you been sleeping under a rock:
Ruby Rose played Batwoman’s lead Kate Kane in Season 1, but stunned fans when she unexpectedly announced her departure in May after The CW had already renewed the show for a second season. The creators later announced that Kate Kane would be replaced with a new character, rather than simply recast.
Now we have this news:
Batwoman has found its new lead character. God Friended Me star Javicia Leslie will play Ryan Wilder, the woman who takes up the Batwoman mantle in Season 2. Leslie will be the first Black woman to portray the Scarlet Knight in live-action.
Javicia Leslie had this to say:
“I am extremely proud to be the first Black actress to play the iconic role of Batwoman on television, and as a bisexual woman, I am honored to join this groundbreaking show which has been such a trailblazer for the LGBTQ+ community,” Leslie said in a statement.
This is very interesting…all I can say is season 2 of Batwoman just went up on my radar….
Returning to The CW in Jan. 2021, Batwoman stars Javicia Leslie, Rachel Skarsten, Meagan Tandy, Camrus Johnson, Dougray Scott and Nicole Kang. The series airs Sundays at 8 p.m. ET/PT.
