Spawn #260 Review

Spawn#260 1The legendary Todd McFarlane and Erik Larsen join forces for a historic and show-stopping collaboration of titanic proportions in an epic display of creative talent on SPAWN! “THE SATAN SAGA WARS,” Part Two.

What I thought

Spawn battles Satan and his horde for the soul of his dead wife Wanda. He rescues her and the two share a loving embrace in the fiery depths of hell. He manages to fend off the demons but is struck down at the end.

Erik Larsen is giving me life with his detailed and high energy charged pencils and inks.

The cover illustrates Al Simmons our titular anti-hero in a loving embrace with former Wife Wanda as the flames of Hell bellow around them. It’s evocative of the end of the world and the only thing you want to do is wrap your hands around the one who loves you.

Larsen’s visceral style is right at home as Spawn’s chains dismember demons and blood and gore fill the air. The action was on point and man did it deliver!

What the hell happened to Wanda and Al’s son? The baby was apparently a plot point that they simply just disregarded along the way which really does suck. I love me some second generation super humans and considering the bloodlines of the parents and their penchant for the creation of Hellspawn, this kid would have been like Morena Simmons…of perhaps more.

Overall I still enjoyed this book despite unresolved plots. I give this issue 3/5 Stars
