Synopsis: Sometimes an Avenger; Sometimes a Defender; Always the Protector.

Dumbara was the greatest hunter/tracker of Ontswa village. He was also their fiercest warrior and represented his tribe as its champion during competitions with other tribes. The notoriety caused Dumbara to become prideful and mean spirited. Dumbara was being bested by one of the young warriors from a neighboring tribe. The young warrior idolized Dumbara, and expressed this to the water bearer. The water bearer twisted the young man’s words making it sound like the warrior was being disrespectful. Dumbara in his rage killed the young warrior with one blow. Sickened by his attitude and behavior, the tribal elders banished Dumbara to the harsh unknown of the jungle, having him stripped, beaten, and branded as a reminder of what he had become. As Dumbara lay naked, bleeding, and dying from starvation on the jungle floor, he felt deep remorse for his actions. He was ashamed of what his anger had caused, and wished for another chance to make things right. When death came, Dumbara begged for a deal, vowing his service for eternity for the opportunity to right the wrong done against his tribe. He was granted his wish and brought back as an avenger and protector.

The Search for Sadiqah: Issue Zero

Writer: Greg Burnham

Artist: Shannon Sapenter

The Search for Sadiqah is a historical action-fantasy tale that is near and
dear to my heart. It came to me in a dream, and I knew I needed to share the
story with the world. I began writing this as a novel, but I felt that what I
saw in my head, needed to be shown to the world. Inspired by the Black Wall
Street–Tulsa Oklahoma Massacre, and the need to push story-telling in a
different direction, I’m hoping to turn this single issue into a saga that can
be enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The story takes place in the early 1920’s
in the southwest United States. Follow Sadiqah as she goes on a quest to find a
mythological place. During the process, while being chased by shady
individuals,  Sadiqah ends up inadvertently finding “herself”.
With Aubrey, the talking Dragonfly, and another unlikely companion, Sadiqah
braves the dangers of the southwest.
