“ECHO TERRA”
Prelude to INFINITY: Part Two.
Aliens races fleeing an intergalactic terror crash to Earth, just as the Avengers are occupied with the now-active Origin Sites!
Captain Universe and Manifold take a trip across the universe.
The Good
Cover- Falcon, Black Widow and Captain America take over this month’s cover as the prelude to Infinity continues.
What’s going on?- Ok so last issue the site dedicated to repair sent out a signal which was denied or accepted at the other sites. It also caused havoc with almost all technology and navigation system based on Earth. The Avengers then attacked a site to try and stop the signal which caused the creatures from the repair site to try and stop them. This issue shows the results, big fight ensues but not before the signal is sent to another robot like Aleph from the opening Arc. Those who read that arc may remember only Captain Universe’s intervention stopped him. The gathered heroes were unable to really do anything to said being. Now we have another one potentially coming to Earth. In addition to that Aliens are trying to get onto Earth, SWORD manages to stop most of the ships but one containing Skrulls get’s through. An a robotic being is headed straight for the Avengers. Captain Universe also grabs Eden Fesi and carries him to a place that will be the first to fall in the coming conflict….What does all this mean?
Art-Like last issue Stefano Caselli is on art duty and everything looks mighty fine!
Action- Well choreographed and seamless acts of destruction run through this book from start to finish.
Black Heroes-Eden Fesi and Sunspot are here kicking ass and taking names.
The Bad
I really don’t think this issue and last were new user friendly at all. If this is your first Avengers (2013) book you have a slew of back issues to peruse before you can fully appreciate what’s happening here.
The Ugly
Still one my favorite reads every month, Jonathan Hickman continues to hold me by the gonads with his writing and taking the Avengers in a whole new direction than what Bendis did all those years he was in charge of the Avengers line. Keep your eyes on this one boys and girls, it’s THE book to read in 2013! 3/5
