Rene ran the orphanage along with Matu Ba she also became David Zavimbe’s maternal figure after he left the life of a child soldier and General Keita. She was instrumental in putting David on the right path and channeling his rage, anger and guilt over the tragedy of his past. Rene is the one who had David become a police officer despite himself and Matu not thinking it was suitable because of his high moral code.
She was fatally wounded by Deathjack and later died in the hospital as David defeated the villain and had him jailed. This event proved the deciding factor in David becoming a vigilante in Tinnasha to save the innocent and gain justice since the “law” was too corrupt.
