Biography

Luca can see her, but no one else can (except Monkfish, but we’ll get to that), Luca can hear her, but no one else can (except for you-know-who). Is Lena even real? Or is she a fantasy, a ghostly product of Luca’s lonely longing? Is Luca insane? Monkfish’s being able to see and hear Lena seems to undercut this explanation. In the crisis of Concrete Park Volume 1: You Send Me, Monkfish calls on Lena for help, and Lena brings Luca her gun. It seems like a physical actor interacting with a tangible object, a real-world event. But if Lena is not a fantasy, what is she? With her blue eyes and tongue, with the blue steam that pours off of her when aroused, with the swirling cloud of bullets that accompanies her anger, she is clearly not human.
