The Good
Cover– The cover does a good job of showcasing all the heroes that make an appearance in this book and are a member of the team. Luke Cage is in the foreground White Tiger, Power Man, Superior Spider-man and Spectrum in the mid-ground and the background is comprised of destroyed buildings.
Dynamic– Two big chemistry pieces in this opening issue was the dynamic between Power Man and Luke Cage. Victor and Luke have never seen eye to eye and clashed back in Shadowland: Power Man so that bit of continuity was welcome. Superior is the ‘dick’ he’s always been and his clashes with Luke and Victor add character to the book.
Black Heroes– Ava Ayala/White Tiger, Power Man/Victor Alvarez, Monica Rambeau/Spectrum were all here.
Characterization– Luke Cage’s doting daddy attitude is in line with his new all family sensibilities
Art- Say what you want about Greg Land’s art but when it’s done right without repetitive poses in the same book it can be quite pleasing. For this first issue we luckily get some good stuff though not very consistent.
Infinity– I like the off kilter mix of having street level heroes clash with space faring baddies.
Villains– It’s a nice change of pace to not have the Phoenix or the usual villains causing mayhem in the marvel universe
The Bad
1. Spiderhero
2. Superior Spiderman is a bit on the over baring side and will grate on a few nerves
3. Art was inconsistent.
The Ugly
Not perfect but it has an interesting dynamic with off kilter chemistry 3/5
