Less than a day after it was announced DeWanda Wise had left Captain Marvel because of scheduling conflicts, Marvel Studios already may have her replacement.
According The Hollywood Reporter, Still Star-Crossed actress Lashana Lynch is in final negotiations to succeed Wise in a role widely believed to be that of Monica Rambeau, aka Spectrum.
DeWanda exited the upcoming Marvel film due to scheduling issues, as the production would interfere with her lead role in the second season of Netflix’s She’s Gotta Have It.
Starring Academy Award winner Brie Larson as Air Force pilot turned superhero Carol Danvers, Captain Marvel is set in the 1990s, enabling the film to explore a period of the Marvel Cinematic Universe well before Nick Fury met Tony Stark in 2008’s Iron Man.
Sad to hear DeWanda is gone…but super excited to see Lashana Lynch potentially “take flight”
