What if the greatest military mind of our generation was born to a people who are already supremely conditioned to wage war, who know nothing but violence since birth, and must continually adapt to new predators in order to survive? What if the second coming of Alexander the Great, of Genghis Khan, of Napoleon, of Patton…what if it was a teenaged girl from South Central, L.A. named Destiny? And what if she decides to secede three blocks of the ‘hood from the Union? Who is going to take it back from her and her army of gangbangers? Who CAN?

“We’re thrilled to be part of Image’s roster of the new and different,” said Bernardin. “This story—about an urban revolutionary’s war on systemic injustice—is one Adam and I have been wanting to tell for a very long time.”

All five issues of GENIUS will be available weekly, throughout August. GENIUS #1 arrives in stores on 8/6 for $3.99. It is available to pre-order with Diamond Code JUN140478. 1. Whenever you come to Orlando, dinner for the family is on me. I would also enjoy if you wanted to come by the house for BBQ. My wife is a historian (Phd) and we have three boys. I collect African-American super hero figures. I love your web site.

  2. At first I was on board, but then I started to think about it. Change her race, and we might as well be talking about white trash from Texas or whatever. That’s not even getting into what secession entails. In conclusion: this is probably going to be a case of noble sentiment, regrettable execution.

  3. It took me a minute but I do remember this one . I enjoyed it immensely . It was my fave of all the Pilot stories I am very pleased that it is being brought out as a series . I am very keen to see how the concept ( a neighbor hood sets its self up a a liberated area / No Go zone and what happens next ) is presented and developed in art and story
I am reminded of (the recently cancelled- (They always take the good stuff away from us) The Movement series from D C and Kyle Baker’s ” Black land ” graphic novel. I hope that this new series will be along those lines but copy them . I would like to see the series develop it’s own “spin /vibe and have politics and tell a good story
I find I am really keen on this
Thank you for informing us about it.

  4. Interesting, storyline kinda reminds of Martha Washington Goes to War
