Courtesy of Comic Book Resource comes this cast photo fresh from the soon to premier Batman prequel “Gotham”. The photo was posted by Ben Mckenzie who plays a young detective Gordon. Mckenzie came to fame playing Brian Atwood on the O.C. More interesting for us however is what the photo reveals. A first look at Mrs. Jada Pinkett-Smith‘s as “Fish Mooney”.
Some of you may remember the news that Jada was cast as Mooney back in February. Mooney is described as:
“the boss of Oswald Cobblepot, the man who eventually becomes The Penguin”.
“a sadistic gangster boss and nightclub owner,
she’s got the street smarts and almost extra-sensory abilities
to read people like an open book.
Imposing and hotheaded, she’s not one to be crossed.”
Here’s a better look at Jada Pinkett-Smit as Fish Mooney. Her inclusion on the cast photo also suggests a bigger role than previously thought on “Fox’s Gotham“.
Other Easter eggs in the photo include Robin Taylor as Oswald Cobblepot standing next to Jada Pinkett-Smith as Fish Mooney. Cobblepot comic faithfuls remember will eventually become “The Penguin”. From left directly beside Mooney we also have Cory Michael Smith as Edward Nygma who becomes the Riddler, Clare Foley as the girl who will one day become Poison Ivy credited on IMDb as “Ivy Pepper,”. Rounding things out are David Mazouz as Bruce Wayne and Sean Pertwee as Alfred Pennyworth. Above Alfred and Bruce sits Selena Kyle perched on a fire escape.
Other neat tidbits include a poster of a Penguin above Oswald Cobblepot, a cat close to Selena Kyle and a question sign on Enigma and the future poison Ivy holds a Rose. Interesting stuff all around!

While ‘excited’ be a strong word for how I feel about this, “Fish Mooney” is an awesome name for a high-class gangster type and it’s nice to see Mrs. Pinkett-Smith get the lime light.
“Fish Mooney” comes off as an odd name, and if she’s the Penguin’s boss, that more than likely means she’s getting an umbrella lodged in an uncomfortable orifice some time during the series. On the other hand, JADA PINKETT-SMITH GETTING WORK!
So I’m in.
Regarding the Jada Pinkett -Smith character
She looks good and sounds interesting , though I suspect this ” new ” character intended to help set the stage for the “established ” characters like Batman and Penguin and is going to be killed off early in order to make way for them
I also agree wholeheartedly with Charlie Owens and his happiness that Jada Pinkett Smith is working ( and we will get to see that work)
They may eventually get rid of Mooney/Jada but I would be shocked it happens in the first season JJ.
What do you think of all the Easter eggs though?
I must confess I have not actually seen the commercial ( though co workers and customers had told me about it and the did not mention the Jada Pinkett- Smith character)
The picture you posted was the first I had seen of the cast and I was mostly interested in the “Fish Mooney” (odd name- I wonder what it’s significance is )character and did not study the whole thing closely I must confess that my first impression upon viewing the character , here , was that she was better looking and more interesting and engaging( warmer) than the Halle Berry / Storm poster.
I do enjoy studying a picture or a video or a comic story and looking for hints and clues and references to what has been and what is to come Like little mental land mines( Though I suppose Easter eggs )is a better term whose triggers are the thought and observation and knowledge
But it has to something that interests or grabs me
Regarding actual “Easter eggs” I note the penguin on the poster on the wall above the Oswald Cobblepot character and the question mark Graffiti( indicating the Riddler ) on the opposite wall and the cat ( foreshadowing ) Cat Woman) running across the alley in the back ground .
I could not see any others .
I wish I could.
