Skills and abilities:  A gifted student and mathematician, Mort was delighted to discover his scholastic training was the perfect primer towards learning True Magick – the eldritch skeletal frame of forces on which reality is based.  With the help of some generous interdimensional mentors, he was able to absorb potent spells into his mind, and master ancient shamanistic techniques enabling him to travel into the spirit realms for the knowledge needed to master the Wondrous Arts.

Powers:  Mort’s spells give him the ability to freeze living beings into blocks of indestructible ice, project concussion beams of pure force, heal himself from limited physical trauma, banish living beings to the other side of the planet in a mini-whirlwind, conjure an energy shield to protect himself from attacks, and other feats.  As many of his spells were downloaded into his mind from an alternate reality, he is able to defeat more potent earth magicians by virtue of them being unable to detect the alien script.

Biography
Even though he does have certain traits that are popularly identified with being a “nerd,” such as being a non-athletic, glasses-wearing bookworm, more comfortable staying after school crunching numbers in the advanced math club, the young Mortise “Mort” Tennon was also social, agreeable, and a natural leader.  School could have been pretty cool for him if it wasn’t for the ‘The Pugg.’  The hulking and uncouth notorious bully of Tanglewood Middle School had unfortunately targeted Mort as his favorite victim, making school a living nightmare.  Little did Mort know, the nightmare had only just begun as Pugg, their schoolmates, and he discovered that they were being fed upon by three horrifying monsters living among them in the small town.  The ensuing adventure opened the door to realms of possibility that Mort found he was uniquely prepared to tackle head-on, and he decided that he should… no matter what the cost!
